Sony Mp3 Player - digital render
This project required sketching out the product then drawing paths using Adobe Illustrator. I saved alot of time by taking a photo of the object in the view I wanted and then drawing the paths directly over it. The rendering was done in PhotoShop CS2 using my Intuos 3 and path selections for masking. It took me a total of approx. 7hrs.

Insect Behaviour - Fungus Gnat Larvae
This ugly critter looks like something out of star wars, but they are actually from New Zealand. This larvae of a type of fungus gnat is usually found in deep dark volcanic caves. They can also be found in trees that are generally in the dark. This is for protection against predators, but mainly for hunting. They catch thier food in the dark by making long silk threads and hanging them down with drops of sticky mucus. The waste the larvae produces has a chemical reaction with air and produces a bright blue light which attracts prey. These "cave glow worms" usually eat mayflies and other small flies, but they also eat snails, gnats (themselves as adults) and roaches. This finished copy took around 8 hours to complete using entirely PhotoShop CS2. Including the research, roughs, linears and colour studies it took about a month (well working on it like 2 hours a week)

Architectural Rendering - Church Detail
A late Victorian church in Streetsville, Mississauga was the subject matter for this architectural detail. I had taken a few reference photos and then drew a pencil sketch. I transfered the sketch to watercolour paper and painted the piece with gouache. Due to the small details (and lack of experience with gouache) this painting took aprox 12 hrs or more.
Package Design - Toy Box
This is a toy box I constructed for an old toy from the film independence day. It was a reconstruction that I designed using Photoshop and Illustrator CS2. Using online references of the film, I recreated the logo in Illustrator and all the graphics were drawn using Photoshop. The illustrated Alien Exoskeleton Suit on the back was rendered using marker and Pencil crayon. The box itself was printed on glossy laser paper then spray mounted to double-ply card stock. I cut out the segments of the circular mothership to see through and glued acetate behind it.

Concert Poster - Pichas Zuckerman
This was a concert poster for Pinchas Zuckerman and the Classical Chamber Enssemble preforming compositions by Johannes Brahms. The concept of the poster was to show Brahms life work (represented by the cluster of his songs titles) was being expressed through this one man (Zuckerman and the ensemble). The poster was done using purely typography and the final was done on Illustrator and Photoshop CS2.
Bird adaptations - Colouration
These illustrations show the adaptations of different bird colourations. They were drawn using lots of photographic references and some live reference. The media used for the illustrations were pencil for the line drawings and then they were coloured digitally in Photoshop CS2 (with an Intuous 3 drawing tablet). The total amount of time that went into this... I didn't keep a log, but i'd say around 35hrs (including research, thumbnails, rough sketches, line drawing, colouring and printing)
Bird anatomy (black vulture - landing position)
This drawing was done in pencil and labelled digitally. The vulture and its landing postures were drawn using alot of photo references.
